পূর্ব শত্রুতার জের ধরে নগরের পাহাড়তলীতে মধ্যরাতে দেখে নেওয়ার হুমকির পর ভোরে ছুরিকাঘাতে যুবক আজাদুর রহমানকে (৩৫) খুন করা হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন র্যাপিড অ্যাকশন ব্যাটেলিয়ন (র্যাব)। এ ঘটনায় দায়ের হওয়া হত্যা মামলার মূল আসামিসহ তিন সহযোগিকে গ্রেপ্তারের পর এমন তথ্যের কথা জানিয়েছেন তারা।
এর আগে সোমবার (২৯মে) সকালে রাঙ্গামাটি জেলার কোতয়ালী থানার একটি আবাসিক হোটেল থেকে আসামিদের গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়। গ্রেপ্তাররা হলেন নগরের হালিশহর থানার মো. আবুল হাসেসের ছেলে আবু তাহের রাজীব (২৩), একই থানার মো. আবুল হাসেমের ছেলে দেলোয়ার হোসেন জয় (২৭) ও লক্ষীপুর জেলার সদর থানার সংসেরাবাদ ইউনিয়নের মো. আনোয়ার হোসেনের ছেলে মো. রায়হান সজীব (২২)।
র্যাব জানায়, গতকাল রাতে নগরের হালিশহরের নয়াবাজার এলাকায় একটি কারখানার গেইটের সামনে খোলা জায়গায় প্রসাব করছিল। ওই সময় কারখানার নৈশ প্রহরী ভুক্তভোগীর বড় ভাই মফিজ (৪০) প্রসাবে বাধা দেয়। এ নিয়ে তাদের মধ্যে বাকবিতণ্ডা হয়। এক পর্যায়ে আবু তাহের রাজীব, ওসমান, আবুল হাসান আরও কয়েকজন এসে কথাকাটাকাটি শুরু করে। বাকবিতণ্ডা শুনে ভুক্তভোগী ঘটনাস্থলে ছুটে আসেন। সেখানে তাদের মধ্যে ধাক্কাধাক্কি হয়। এসময় আবু তাহের রাজীব, ওসমান, আবুল হাসান আজাদুর রহমানকে দেখ নেওয়ার হুমকি দেয়। ভোরে আজাদুর রহমান নাস্তা আনা জন্য বাসা থেকে বের হয়। ওই সময় আসামিরা তাকে একা পেয়ে শরীরের বিভিন্ন জায়গায় একে একে জখম করে। পরে হাসপাতালে নেওয়ার পর তার মৃত্যু হয়।
র্যাব আরও জানায়, এ ঘটনায় ভুক্তভোগীর স্ত্রী চারজনের জনের নাম উল্লেখ এবং তিন থেকে চারজনকে জনকে অজ্ঞাত নামে মামলা করেন। এরপর রাঙ্গামাটি থেকে তিন অভিযুক্ত গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়। তাদের দেওয়া ভিত্তিতে নগরের কদমতলী বাসস্ট্যান্ড থেকে আবুল হাসনাত রানা (৩০) নামে আর এক আসামিকে গ্রেপ্তার করে।
র্যাব-৭ এর সিনিয়র সহকারী পরিচালক (গণমাধ্যম) মো. নূরুল আবছার জানান, গ্রেপ্তারের পর আসামিরা হত্যাকাণ্ডে জড়িত থাকার বিষয়টি স্বীকার করেছেন। তাদের বিরুদ্ধে আইনি ব্যবস্থা নেওয়ার জন্য থানায় পাঠানো হয়েছে।
